Idlehurst Elementary Administrative Team:
Principal: Eris Hersey
It is a great honor to be the principal of Idlehurst Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. This will be my ninth year as an administrator at Idlehurst. Before coming to Somersworth, I was a teacher for ten years educating children in grades 1-4. My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Keene State College. A Master's of Education Degree in Literacy and a Certificate of Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Advanced Leadership from the University of New England. I consider myself a lifelong learner and look forward to growing right along with the staff and students! I believe that ALL children can not only learn, but excel given the right amount of support and a positive learning environment. I also believe that it is our duty to ensure that the children of Somersworth are getting the best education possible!
I reside in Hampton, New Hampshire with my three children, husband, and dogs. My oldest son just graduated college, my middle child is in 7th grade my youngest is in first grade. As a family, we love spending time at the beach in the summer and skiing in the winter. I look forward to building relationships with the community, parents, and students for this upcoming year!
Assistant Principal: Liza Cocco
I have been blessed with the opportunity of working for the Somersworth/Rollinsford School district for the past eighteen years. During my tenure, I have been able to explore many facets of this amazing learning community. I started out as a special education case manager at the high school, working in the science department for seven years. I then moved to the SAU level to become the Special Education Liaison, focusing on out of district placed students, homeless population, and homeschool population. For two years, I have served as an Assistant Special Education Director, covering all the buildings in different capacities. I look forward to starting my fifth year at Idlehurst as the Assistant Principal.
In addition to my career I have continued to further my education over the past 20 years, receiving my B.A in Education from the University of Vermont, my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Design from Keene State, and most recently finishing my CAGS in Administrative Leadership. I am passionate about learning and transferring my learned knowledge into my practice of educating our students and making a difference in every student’s life.
Above all my education and career accomplishments thus far, my greatest accomplishment to date, is raising a wonderful 14 year old daughter. While she keeps me on my toes and challenges me daily, she reminds me what the most important thing in this world is… our children. I look forward to assisting Mrs. Hersey in continuing to move this amazing learning community in a forward direction.
